Philosophy Wire: Apple, Middle Ages and the dehumanization of technology


Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2011-05-01]: Non Government Organizations analyzed the conditions under which the workers at Chinese factories producing Apple popular products (like iPhone and iPad) are working. Their conclusions are that people there work under extremely harsh conditions - "they are treated more like machines than like humans" [for details see web news]. The era of technology is exactly that: the era of technology and not the era of humans. The latter do not exist anywhere... But al least we have iPhones... The problem of technology is not if it works. The very problem is that it DOES work...
