Philosophy Wire: Unfairness. Demotivation.


Unequal compensation reduces people's motivation to work, even among those who stand to benefit from unfair advantages, finds a new study. [1] Give me help. Treat me fairly. And I will be motivated. It doesn’t matter whether this is good for me or not. I will (anyway) be motivated. To do more. Because I will be punished if I don’t. Because I will be rewarded if I do. And this is fair. What could be more unfair than that?
