Philosophy Wire: Depression. Sleep deprivation. Rewards.

Poor sleep is both a risk factor, and a common symptom, of depression. But not everyone who tosses and turns at night becomes depressed. Individuals whose brains are more attuned to rewards may be protected from the negative mental health effects of poor sleep, says a new study. [1] Modern man analyzes everything. And has lost touch with the irrationality of life. Forget the studies. Sleep tight. Sweet dreams. And if something happens, if a nightmare comes up at night to trouble you, I will be there. Every night you dream you create worlds. Every day you wake up you destroy them. Close your eyes and dream yourself. Do not blame the cosmos. The world gets its meaning from us. And it was always cold. Like a soulless alarm clock…

Philosophy Wire: Fall to sleep...

Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2014-08-22]: Psychedelic drugs alter consciousness in a profound and novel way that increases the breadth and fluency of cognition, just as dreaming does. [1] We want to believe that all important things happen while we are awake. And yet... Fall to sleep... To wake up!
