[1] We still have sacred things. They are just different than the things we used to hold as sacred. Science is more important than the superstitions of some indigenous people. And there will come a day when science is less important than the beliefs of our future selves. Jupiter exists. God exists. Philosopher's stone exists. Or nothing of these things exist. PS. No, I am not implying that the existence of God is as irrational as the existence of Jupiter. I am saying that Jupiter, as imagined by the ancient Greeks, existed. As God does. (but not as gravity does) Read about "existence" and "reality" in Harmonia Philosophica.
