Philosophy Wire: Entangled. For-ever. (Does it matter?)

Super-fast quantum computers and communication devices could revolutionize countless aspects of our lives - but first, researchers need a fast, efficient source of the entangled pairs of photons such systems use to transmit and manipulate information. Researchers have done just that, not only creating a chip-based photon source 100 times more efficient that previously possible, but bringing massive quantum device integration within reach. [1] Entanglement getting more stable every passing day. At the end, scientists will create entangled particles that essentially stay stable for-ever. But why do we seek stability in an ever changing cosmos? If not to remind us of its instability? How do we achieve stability in an ever changing cosmos? If not due to its inherent stability? Ask the simple questions... And the cosmos will disappear in front of your eyes... And that will be your best proof that it ever existed.

Constantly changing.

Always the same.

PS. From the beginning, the cosmos can be entangled with the only thing that could ever exist: NOTHING.

Οι εξαιρετικά γρήγοροι κβαντικοί υπολογιστές και οι συσκευές επικοινωνίας θα μπορούσαν να φέρουν επανάσταση σε αμέτρητες πτυχές της ζωής μας - αλλά πρώτα οι ερευνητές χρειάζονται μια γρήγορη, αποτελεσματική πηγή διαπλεγμένων ζευγών φωτονίων που χρησιμοποιούνται από τέτοια συστήματα για τη μετάδοση και τον χειρισμό πληροφορίας. Οι ερευνητές το κατάφεραν αυτό, όχι μόνο δημιουργώντας μια πηγή φωτονίων βασισμένη σε τσιπ 100 φορές πιο αποτελεσματική από ό,τι ήταν προηγουμένως δυνατή, αλλά και φέρνοντας πιο κοντά στην υλοποίηση τη μαζική ενσωμάτωση κβαντικής συσκευής. [1] Η διεμπλοκή (entanglement) γίνεται σταθερότερη κάθε μέρα που περνά. Στο τέλος, οι επιστήμονες θα δημιουργήσουν διαπλεγμένα σωματίδια που ουσιαστικά παραμένουν σταθερά για πάντα. Γιατί όμως αναζητούμε σταθερότητα σε έναν συνεχώς μεταβαλλόμενο κόσμο; Αν όχι να μας θυμίσει την αστάθεια του; Πώς επιτυγχάνουμε σταθερότητα σε έναν συνεχώς μεταβαλλόμενο κόσμο; Αν όχι λόγω της εγγενούς σταθερότητάς του; Κάνε τις απλές ερωτήσεις... Και το σύμπαν θα εξαφανιστεί μπροστά στα μάτια σου... Και αυτή θα είναι η καλύτερη απόδειξή ότι υπήρξε κάποτε.

Philosophy Wire: Irrelevant information… Hubris!

According to new research from behavioral economists, irrelevant information or unavailable options often cause people to make bad choices. When both elements are present, the probability of a poor decision is even greater. Through an experiment involving 222 individual tests each consisting of more than 40 questions, research revealed that decisions made in an environment of irrelevant information carry time, cognitive, and consequence costs. [1] Humans trying to decipher the cosmos. Trying to decide what to do. Trying to analyze things and think of the next step. But they fail to see that there is nowhere to go. Where you are is where you will always be. Discard of all those useless choices. Stand tall. Crying out for the cosmos to Be: Our greatest hubris was not a choice we made! But our belief that we even had one!
