Φιλοσοφικό Τηλεγράφημα: Δεινόσαυροι. Δέντρα. (Άνθρωποι;)

Για να καταλάβουμε πώς επηρεάστηκαν συγκεκριμένα οικοσυστήματα από μια μεγάλη πρόσκρουση αστεροειδών που οδήγησε στη μαζική εξαφάνιση δεινοσαύρων, μια ομάδα επιστημόνων ανέλυσε τα μικροσκοπικά υπολείμματα φυτών αυτής της περιόδου. Διαπίστωσαν ότι οι τοπικές φυτικές κοινότητες και τα οικοσυστήματα γνώρισαν μια μακροπρόθεσμη στροφή προς λιγότερα υδρόβια φυτά και αύξηση των χερσαίων φυτών, συμπεριλαμβανομένων δέντρων όπως σημύδες και φτελιές. Οι αλλαγές στα πρότυπα βροχοπτώσεων κατά τη διάρκεια του γεγονότος της εξαφάνισης ήταν σχετικά μικρές και βραχύβιες. [1] Περίεργο πράγμα η ζωή. Ο θάνατος του άλλου μπορεί να σημαίνει την επιβίωση του άλλου. Οι δεινόσαυροι πέθαναν. Τα φυτά ευδοκίμησαν. Τώρα τα φυτά πεθαίνουν. Και εμείς ευδοκιμούμε. Ή έτσι φαίνεται. Μέχρι να πεθάνουμε…

Και με την τελευταία μας πνοή θα αναρωτηθούμε…

Και ο κόσμος…

Θα γελάσει.
Και θα κλάψει.
Και θα ευδοκιμήσει.

Ψιθυρίζοντας απαλά…

Philosophy Wire: Dinosaurs. Trees. (Humans?)

To understand how specific ecosystems were affected by a large asteroid impact that led to the mass extinction of dinosaurs, a team of scientists has analyzed the microscopic remains of plants from this period. They found that local plant communities and ecosystems experienced a long-term shift towards fewer aquatic plants and an increase in terrestrial plants, including trees such as birches and elms. Changes in rainfall patterns during the extinction event were relatively minor and short-lived. [1] Weird thing life is. One’s death is another one’s life. Dinosaurs died. Plants thrived. Now plants die. And we thrive. Or so it seems. Until we die…

And with our last breath we will wonder…

Ήθελα να περπατήσω δίπλα σου. Ονειρευόμουν να αγγίξω το χέρι σου. Λαχταρούσα να βλέπω το πρόσωπό σου κάθε μέρα. Μόνο επειδή σε είδα. Τώρα είμαι εδώ. Τώρα σε βλέπω κάθε μέρα. Και το βαριέμαι τόσο πολύ. Φαίνεται ότι είμαι γεμάτος, αλλά είμαι άδειος. Φαίνεται ότι έχω τα πάντα, αλλά ακόμα λαχταρώ το σπίτι όπου δεν είχα τίποτα. Γιατί στο τέλος, όλα αυτά που είδα και ήθελα ήταν απλώς πράγματα που με αποσπούσαν από Εμένα.

Ω, σπίτι γλυκό μου σπίτι.
Πόσο θα ήθελα να μπορούσα να μπω για μια ακόμη μέρα…
Πώς μπορείς να με αγαπάς ακόμα;

Μόνο τα δάκρυά μου τρέφουν τον ποταμό που δεν είναι πουθενά πια…

It seems I am full, but I am empty. It seems I have everything, but I still long for home where I had nothing. For at the end, all these things I saw and wanted were mere obstructions of Me.
