Philosophy Wire: Libya, Buddha and the hypocricy of Democracy

Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2011-03-05]: All Western governments try to enforce "democracy" in Libya. Gaddafi is pursued by Interpol, Switzerland blocked his bank accounts (you know...the same country which "forgot" to block the accounts of Hitler while he was killing millions of innocent people), LSE's chairman resigned due to accepting financial support from Libya (Gadhafi's son seem to be the..."exception" you see, since all other sons and daughters of foreign leaders are "geniuses" and earned their PhD with their value). But we must know that nothing can be imposed. If the "progressive" Westerners want the good of Libya they must do anything to help, but without choosing the way of enforcement. Today the old Buddhist saying is more important and relevant than ever: "When the student is ready, the Master appears." Who is the teacher? And most important: is the student ready?
