Philosophy Wire: Are Red tuna quotas Ecology?

Philosophy Wire: 2010-11-22 A meeting of representatives from the 27 members states is underway in Brussels to decide on the negotiations mandate that the EU Council is to give to the European Commission to be able to negotiate 2011-213 red tuna quotas at the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tuna (ICCAT), which began a closed-door meeting yesterday in Paris [Source: http://www.ansamed.info/en/francia/news/ME.XEF90465.html]. Is that ecology? Or economic policy for the expensive red tunas commodity? Who really believes that the 27 want to protect the tuna due to ecological sensitivity? The leaders of Euro and of "cut all social benefits and kill people in order to improve the economies" have suddently read Levi Strauss and started caring about the... tuna fish? No. Unfortunately in todays society where everything is measured with Euro, only the "expensive" species have a chance to survive...
