Philosophy Wire: Death drive...

Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2014-06-07]: According to Freud we all have a "death drive". A drive towards death, self-destruction and the return to the inorganic: "the hypothesis of a death instinct, the task of which is to lead organic life back into the inanimate state".  [12345] The purpose of life is death. How could we not wish for it? If only we knew what this mean... We are meant to live. We are meant to die. We need to die in order to learn life. Who doesn't want to be alive? Who doesn't want to die? You must live if you wish to die... We love life. But we also love death. We have just forgotten it...  Close your eyes and try to remember. Could it be that we have blocked the most important part of life due to our love for another? Love makes you blind. And you cannot see Death...
