Philosophy Wire: Crowd on you neurobiologist!

Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2014-03-14]:

Neurons in the brain work constantly. But the brain carefully balanced the activity changes of all those individual neurons inside each region. While some neurons fired faster, others slowed down so that the entire population broadcast a constant message to the body or to other parts of the brain. When we want to act, the activity of the neurons is coordinated and the area as a whole sends a signal. [1]

We are too close in discovering the mechanism of thought from a chemical point of view. All we need to know is "who" gives the order for its activation...

What makes inanimate matter move?
What makes the dead alive?
What made things be in the first place?
Who governs the ship?
Crowd on!
Captain?
