Our society has changed (to the worst in this matter). The need to kill secretly has been eliminated. Governments and people in power now "kill" others (physically or psychologically) out in the open. Why hire nintzas to do the job when a Wall Street broker or a CEO can do the work legitimately and publicly without anyone taking notice or protesting?
