Philosophy Wire: The £20 million tool and the boring nature of common logic…

_54117331_tool_dsrl_299Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2011-07-19]: Workers with use a £20 million tool to dismantle the Dounreay Fast Reactor (DFR) in Scotland [source: BBC News]. Many times we are impressed by technologies of extreme cost. Would we be equally impressed if we had used the 1/1000th of the money spent for that reactor and for that tool, in order to build an infrastructure of renewable energy sources (e.g. for wind harvesting in the Highlands of Scotland) ? Common logic sometimes is so boring…
