Philosophy Wire: Panda died. It was about time!

panda
Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2011-05-18]: The oldest panda in a zoo died [source: web news]. It was about time! Why are animal lovers upset when such a not-fit-for-survival animal dies? It wanders around with no protection from enemies, has no method to avoid predators, is constantly eating bamboo which it cannot even digest, is lazy, just sitting there doing nothing all day long. Why should such an animal be kept alive only with the help of humans? Don’t we “believe” in the Theory of Evolution? Are we starting to become… soft?
