Philosophy Wire: Medicine, clinical trials, Eastern Europe and Ethics...


Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2011-05-07]: The clinical trials of new medical products of major pharmaceutical companies have been transferred to the countries of Eastern Europe and Asia, for reasons of cost reduction (maybe even for the sake of less rigid legislation and governmental controls?) [source: web news]. Science in the service of human? Or science in the service of easy money? Probably the latter. When we understand that ethics must take a central role in the research for knowledge, we will have taken a major step forward... Or better "backwards" - after all we "knew" that in the old days and we have just now "forgotten" it...
