Philosophy Wire: The icebreaker, Arctic and antinomies...


Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2011-04-14]: Russian arctic icebreaker Yamal is used to open the seaways in the North Arctic Ocean for the ships to pass through [source: CNN Edition]. In order to reduce carbon emissions (due to the smaller route the ships will follow), the ice in the Arctic Ocean must be broken... Antinomies everywhere... Who knows how many "Yamal" are required to open the waters of areas we are afraid to go so that we don't "disturb" the balance...
