Philosophy Wire: Oscar awards, Dogtooth and the Cave of Plato...

Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2011-02-27]: Close to the Oscar ceremony, the Greek movie Dogtooth is one of the surprises of this year's awards. A "heavy" film that is nevertheless a very good effort showing that the "reality" of some people can be methodically and systematically fabricated by someone else who wants to control them. A case which can be applied everywhere, from the political situation, to mind theories or to epistemology of today... How many people live in Plato's cave? Or even worse, how many are "confident" that they do NOT live in it? When we break our own dogtooths to get out of our own "home" and out of the "Reality" we take for granted?
