Philosophy Wire: The lack of government in Belgium, EU and the meaning of "whole"

Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2011-02-03]: The King of Belgium asked from the caretaker government to submit a state budget, something well beyond the normal duties of such a government. Belgium political parties have not been able to form a viable government for 236 days now, because of a conflict between the two main ethnic groups of the country. The european country is now that close from breaking the record of lack of government (anarchy?), which is held by Iraq (still only 52 days to go) ... [Source: web news] EU never had strong leadership and what happens in the heart simply reveals the disease from which the whole body suffers. Deep chasms separate its countries and segments. And a body can not live without heart, without a common vision, with no harmony ... A set cannot be based only on money and on a common monetary policy. There are more vital things in life and EU has terrible performance as far as these are concerned... U.S. is a superpower because of the faith its people have in the whole and not due to the small deficit. But Europeans prefer to play with numbers that to look at things that really matter...
