Philosophy Wire: The Christmas liturgy at Karpasia in Cyprus forbidden

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew says that the love of church can be the countermeasure to the misery of our times... But can that happen with closed churches as Turks impose?

Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2010-12-25]: Turkish authorities in the occupied region of Cyprus did not allow the Christams liturgy in the Orthodox churhces at Karpasia (source: newspaper article). European Union is still not able to solve the occupation problem of a european country, and until it does it will not be able to call itself a "Union"... Giving a name to something, does not mean anything and philosophers should remember that always... As the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew said, it is time for us to practice the word of the gospel and not stay at theory... Merry Christmas to everybody, especially to those who cannot celebrate them!
