Philosophy Wire: EU Commission, Facebook, Google and the "right" (?) to delete your past

Philosophy Wire: 2010-11-07 People are starting to complaint about how difficult it is becoming for them to erase their "past" in the Internet. The EU Commission is starting to ask from companies like Google or Facebook to make it more easy for their users to delete their online profiles. But should it be so easy to erase everything from your past? Aren't we actually defined by our past? Isn't manipulating our past cheating? Each one of us is who he is. Why change that unless you have something to hide?
