Philosophy Wire: 2010-10-24 USA apologized to Guatemala for medical experiments it conducted during the 1940s at people (mainly people with mental problems, prostitutes, prisoners and soldiers) in that country. When a religious person does something bad, then atheists around the world accuse the religion for that bad thing. When a scientist or a whole scientific sector does something bad, then an "apology" fixes everything... The good thing about religion is that at least it has "ethics" embedded in it as a notion, so whenever something bad happens religion can and should take the blame and criticism. But todays "science" is cold and inhumane and people believing in scientism think that it has and should have nothing to do with "ethics". And it is very hard to exercise criticism on someone for ethics, if he does not think he has something to do with ethics. After all, we got the "data", who care for humans... Right? Wrong.
